Edo New Commissioner of Police Nemi Edwin-Iwo Read Riot Acts To Illegal Possession Of Firearms, Parades Suspected criminals
Ahead of Edo state governorship election in September, Edo State Commissioner of Police Nemi Edwin- Iwo has vowed to mop up all forms illegally possess fire arms within the state to ensure a violent free electioneering process before during and after the Edo election schedule for September 21st
The Commissioner of police who said intelligence reports have revealed that there are a lot of firearms in the system possessed by persons who do not have the right to carry lethal weapons vows to recover them back and punish offenders
While addressing the press, the police commissioner, who is the 47th Commissioner of Police replacing Funsho Adegboye, said his mission is to ensure that Edo witnesses a smooth transition of power through a violent, free democratic process. Police commissioner Edwin- Iwo said the Edo Command will begin constant raid, stop and search, and moping up of illegal firearms from the public.
The occasion also witnessed the parade of over fifteen suspects who were allegedly accused to be involved in various degrees of crimes, including kidnapped cases in Edo central senatorial district.
Some of the suspects who confessed to committing the crime said they regretted their actions.
Nemi Edwin -Iwo has since resume duty in Edo on August 13. 2024
