One Richard John has been arrested by the Nigeria police, Edo state command for alleged kidnapping armed robbery and other nefarious crimes in Edo.

The Edo state Police Command led by the Commissioner, Nemi Edwin- Iwo has paraded suspects said to have been terrorising residents in Edo Central and the state at large of armed robbery, kidnapping and stealing of electrical equipment.
The 40 years old suspect identified as Richard John and other members of the gang were said to have stormed the home of Promise Ehichoya in Ekpoma on 7th of May 2024 in the night and kidnapped their victim, took him to an unknown destination and began to demand for ransom
The robbers also made away with the victims vehicle, clothing, jewelry, phones and other items.
According to the statement release by the Command PRO SP Moses Joel Yamu, the gang collected a ransom of N6,000,000 from the victim before he was freed, the statement added that the notorious gang members were said to have served jail terms together in Koton- Karfe correctional Centre kogi state.
The Police Image Maker said acting on a technological driven intelligence, the police operatives tracked Richard John Abdulahi to Zone C area of Apo resettlement quarters, Abuja, were he was apprehended searched, and a barrette pistol with three live ammunition recovered from him.
The suspect led the police to his home for further search that led to the recovery of gold chain and bracelet that was earlier stolen during the operation in Ekpoma, the police was also led to the other suspects home Emmanuel Audu and Ismeal Peter were some electronic and clothing earlier stolen from the victim were recovered from their apartment while they are still at large.
According to the police force the arrested 40 years old Richard John will be charged to court while effort have been put in place to ensure the fleeing suspects are brought to book.
